Alarms, Immobilisers & Transponder Keys

Hello everyone, we have had a lot of questions lately regarding Alarms, Immobiliser's, Transponder chips & keys.

So I have decided to write a few questions and answers here to try and help everyone out and give you all a little more insight into what they are and how they work.

What's the difference between Alarms, Immobiliser's and a Transponder chip or key ?

An alarm is simply a loud noise that sounds off if someone trys to break into your vehicle. It is just designed to draw attention to your car or van so the thief stops what they are doing and runs away.

An Immobiliser is a security devise that stops your car or van being stolen as it prevents the engine from starting.

An Alarm and Immobiliser are usually 2 totally different things, there are a few exceptions but that would be a very long winded rant and highly complexed and really there is no need for me to open that can of worms, after all the purpose of this blog is to explain things in laymans terms.

A Transponder chip is a small piece of technology that sits inside your key. When you turn your key in the ignition the Transponder chip and the engine Immobiliser "talk" to each other, they send and receive codes and if the correct codes are given and received then your Immobiliser will now allow the engine to start.

Sometimes a Transponder code will sit on a separate chip inside your key, sometimes they imprint the Transponder code onto the circuit board

99% of these keys are pre-cut and will work immediately.

We are also delighted to announce that the popular WMS 303A, 303B and 303C Window replacement keys are now back in stock, as you might know many High street retailers cannot get hold of these keys and we sell them for less than £3 each !
